We have already seen what is F droid, its advantages and why we should use it. In this article I want let you know some of its best applications. It is clear that this is very subjective because the best application will be the one that meets one of our needs. But here are a few that I think can help you.
So I’m going to leave the applications that I consider most interesting from this repository of Free Software applications. You will not find alternatives for some, and for others you will already have applications installed that do the same. It is a good time to assess if you are interested in transferring that application you use to another Free Software application.
Finally you will see that many others, you find them in the Play Store.
As we said in article from F-droid, it is not a massive app store, nor with free pirated apps. It is a commitment to Free Software, Open Source and privacy and it is on these pillars that you have to base yourself when choosing whether to use them or not.

AntennaPod
Podcast player and subscription manager. With all the necessary functionalities to replace the great commercial solutions. The best alternative that I have tried and that has become my player. Left antenna pod review
Fennec
Browser based on Firefox for Android and based on security and privacy. Fennec is always talked about as Mozilla’s browser, but I’m not sure about the connection between the Mozilla Foundation and the project.
VLC
It is the multimedia player par excellence today. No need to talk much about him. It will always get you out of trouble by reading and displaying any audio and video format you want.
NewPipe
It is a YouTube video viewer. It has several interesting things. It doesn’t track anything, we don’t need to create an account to follow channels, create video collections, etc. and we can download videos from Youtube
feeder
Free and Open Source feed reader. A great free alternative to Feedly and the much-remembered Google Reader.
FairEmail
100% OpenSource email client focused on privacy. It is only a mail client, not a provider. It can sync with Gmail and Yahoo but not with Microsoft services.
KeePassDX
Password manager. It is the free software alternative to 1Password or Lastpass. It is the application for which I installed F-Droid and decided to try it.
syncthing
Application used to synchronize files between devices. An alternative to Dropbox or Drive when it comes to synchronization.
I started using it to sync my KeePass file and have the same password database on my smartphone and PC browser and now I use it to send myself photos and other files between devices.
File Manager
File managers are one of the most abundant applications in the F-droid store, you just have to do a search to see numerous options.
In this case, I am going to recommend File Manager Pro, but take a look at all the others to see which one best suits your needs and tastes.
Aegis Authenticator
2FA authentication application to access our accounts safely in the generation of tokends for verification in 2 steps. IS an alternative to Google Authenticator and Authy
andOTP
This is another 2-step authenticator. Like Aegis but each one with its particular characteristics.
OsMand +
Open Source browser, alternative to Google Maps, free and focused on privacy. Work on project data OpenStreetMap. It strikes me that it was the application used by the carriers who moved us around Paris.
quillnote
Take notes and to-do list in Markdown format. It has a ton of options that note fans will love. Voice notes can be added. Group into collections, tag notes, create to-do lists, reminders for events, etc, etc.
