How to make cheap nylon line replacement for Bosch brushcutters

make cheap homemade spare parts for bosch

This is not in itself a repair, but a little hack to save us money. Bosch spare parts are tremendously expensive and in this article I will show you how to use nylon line from other brands in Bosch electric brush cutters.

I have an electric brush cutter Bosch AFS 23-37 1000 W of power. It's going great. I am very happy for a non-intensive use like the one I need. It is an electric brush cutter, not a battery one, it has to be connected to electricity to work.

However, However, the highest cost was for the planet. Only one of these wee wee pads takes approximately XNUMX years to decompose. Putting ourselves in the best of cases, a dog uses XNUMX pad daily for only XNUMX years of his life, so when he is a puppy and when he is elder he would use XNUMX soakers in total. If we take into account that only in Spain there are XNUMX million dogs, mostly of mini race, with greater tendency to use wee wee pads and assuming that at least XNUMX% use them, we are talking about a figure of XNUMX wee wee pads that are used daily. Tons and tons of waste are thrown daily to the planet so that our dog does not spoil our house. the brand's official nyon spare parts are very expensive, rather very expensive and is manufactured so that you end up consuming its spare parts. In this case, the nylon thread comes with a kind of bolt in the center that prevents it from escaping.

The ones in the image that come with the machine cost € 25 the pack of 10 units of 30cm that is, € 25 for 3 meters. While the coils cost us € 10 for 60 or 70 meters. There is a lot of difference.

If you are also interested in being able use any brand of nylon thread spools I leave you two ways.

Reuse the bolt

modify nylon line for electric brush cutters

If we see the spare parts they have a small aluminum bolt. I am not sure what would happen if we put the cut cable directly. Seeing how it gets, I think that when it gets caught in some grass it will slip and come off the head. That is why we are going to reuse the bolts.

I leave a video with the change

If you prefer to see the process step by step with photos, here you have it.

Take some parrot nose pliers, and remove the deformation. So we can get the rest of the thread that we have left

And you just have to cut the new one, insert it and press again so that it does not slip.

original part Bosch electric brush cutter head

Buy universal head

It is another good option. We bought another universal or compatible head with our machine and we can now use any type of thread. These types of heads cost between € 5 and € 15.

In this way we can change to any thread whenever we want. I have bought this although I have not tried it yet

Along with the head I bought 3,5mm braided wire and also coated steel wire to test how it works because I think it will wear a lot less.

I'm afraid that being steel some unwanted spark will jump, but when I try I'll tell you.

Is an electric brush cutter worth it?

This is the question that most people ask me to whom I tell that I have bought an electric.

I would like to answer this because it is something that I am asked recurrently.

The answer as always is that it depends. It depends on what you need. I am going to use it in a field of 2 flooded, where I can connect it with extensions without problems. When I finish I take it home in the car and put it in a closet. And it is appreciated that it is not stained with gasoline and oil, that it does not smell and although it seems silly, it is appreciated that when you use it it does not make excessive noise.

But you have to know what you buy, in the case of this particular model (the Bosch ASF 23 - 37) you have to be constantly tightening the safety for it to work and it becomes a bit cumbersome. But the rest is perfect.

If you need a machine with normal power, you are going to use it in an environment where you can connect it without problems and you want something little noisy and that does not stain (so as not to stain the car or when I keep it at home) Well, electric is your best option.

If you need to take it to places without electricity, you need a lot of power, more than 1CV

  • Less noisy
  • More clean
  • Do not be aware of gasoline and oil

  • It has to always be connected and you lose freedom
  • You can't use it without electricity
  • There are no models as powerful as in gasoline
